Igniting Curiosity: Science is the antidote to fear

Science is the antidote to fear

Imagine growing up today and starting to think about your future after school. Wars are raging, violence feels omnipresent, and it’s hard to know which information to trust. It’s easy to become afraid. Fear can be overwhelming, but there is a powerful antidote called knowledge, and this medicine is best served in the form of science.

Science clears up confusion and replaces despair with hope, leading to meaningful solutions. That’s why science needs to be accessible to everyone, especially young people in schools. It also needs to be fun; otherwise, no one will come.

This belief is why I volunteered to teach at my regional school. Together with my small group of students, we’re working on a satellite challenge and exploring robotics, ecology, and computer programming. Whether or not we succeed in launching the satellite doesn’t matter as much as trying and exploring. If you’re curious about our progress, follow the team Persephone on Instagram.

This kind of thing does not earn much money, but you invest in the following generation. The older ones are responsible for creating opportunities for the young to learn.

If that inspires you, why don’t you contact your local school? You don’t need to be a superhero to make a difference. Support coding classes, run workshops, or propose presentations for your profession; what counts is that we spark curiosity.

We need to ignite the passion for discovery, and it all starts with the young people around your corner.
